K-SPEW Talk Radio provides a glimpse into the studio, mind, and message of a canonical right-wing talk radio host in an attempt to answer the question: "Who are these strange, unseen people behind the microphone, and why are they filling the ether with hate, paranoia and intolerance?"
K-SPEW Talk Radio displays the holy hierarchy of right-wing talk radio. At the peak is the most holy Trinity: God, Guns, and Ronald Reagan. Still important, but at a less exalted level, we find the Almighty Dollar and the Unborn. Finally, cast into the nethermost regions of the damned, we find the demonic Bill and Hillary Clinton.
Peering more closely at the twisted forces motivating the spokesmen (and they are usually men, aren't they?) of division and intolerance, we find emblazoned on their brains their guiding principles of hate, anger, racism, homophobia, greed, and fear of women.
K-SPEW Talk Radio was exhibited at the Bellevue Art Museum (Bellevue, WA) and the Bumbershoot Arts Festival (Seattle, WA) in 1996.
